YMCA of Medicine Hat Announces 2024 Strong Kids Campaign
Medicine Hat, AB, April 29, 2024 The YMCA of Medicine Hat’s Strong Kids campaign ensures YMCA programs and day camps are accessible to all people, regardless of their financial circumstances. The campaign runs year-long and is currently in its public phase with the goal of raising $30,000 by May 31st . Thanks to several initiatives and individual donations we have already raised $12,000. All proceeds raised through the campaign will be matched up to 50% through the Shaw/Rogers Birdies for Kids program.
YMCA programs increase physical and mental well-being, contributing to connected and resilient community members. With programs for all ages, the YMCA’s charitable purpose is to ensure everyone in the community has equitable access so they can reach their potential. Strong Kids funding offsets fees for youth day camps and programs, swimming lessons, and all ages access to our facilities for anyone experiencing financial barriers. Last year, Strong Kids supported the community with $72,351 of financial support.
It is not too late to help! Strong Kids donations can be made online at https://medicinehatymca.ca/donate or in person at the Downtown or South Ridge YMCA branches. Community members can also show their support at these upcoming Strong Kids fundraising initiatives:
• Family Activity and Food Trucks Event – May 9 th (4:30pm – 7:30pm) at the Crescent Heights Child Development Centre (1707 7 Ave NE)
• Strong Kids BBQ – June 1 st (11:00 – 5:00) at Save On Foods
• 40th Annual River Run – June 15th at the Downtown YMCA
• 50/50 draw – tickets available at the Downtown and South Ridge YMCAs
“Strong Kids funding made a difference in the lives of over 200 people last year,” says Kristen Dietrich, Director of Philanthropy at the YMCA of Medicine Hat, “The moment when families realize they can send their kids to camp or swimming lessons is so moving. This year, with the community’s support, we plan to impact even more people!”
